DWD GCFS 2.2 seasonal forecast maps
DWD German Climate Forecast System 2.2 seasonal forecast maps from Copernicus C3S. Compare GCFS with ECMWF, UK Met Office, Météo-France and CMCC on synchronized maps.
The German Climate Forecast System (GCFS) is developed by Deutscher Wetterdienst together with the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and Universität Hamburg. It is built on the MPI-ESM earth system model, pairing the ECHAM atmosphere with the MPIOM ocean.
Version 2.2 is published by Copernicus as system 22. This site uses 50 forecast members and 30 hindcast members per reference year when deriving tercile and quintile probabilities. DWD forecasts are validated on their own GRIB origin and system version before they are published here.

New initializations are imported monthly. The system version is taken from the live Copernicus catalogue for each run, so the version shown on a map panel always matches the data behind it.
